Cathi Weber, known locally as the “Ghost Lady”, was born and raised in the Cleveland area. She can recall being intrigued with the paranormal world as young as 8 years of age because of personal experiences she endured while still a child. From these experiences she was led to study the occult as a teenager to search for the answers to her paranormal questions. And ever since her earliest days, she can remember loving a good ghost story!
Cathi graduated from Eastlake North High School and married her high school sweetheart, Al. They moved to Willoughby with their young daughter Jennifer in 1986, and soon after they arrived she gave birth to a son, Bradley, to complete their family. Cathi attended Lakeland Community College and left college before earning her degree - her only enjoyment while in college being the creative writing classes she took.
Cathi has been dealing with things of a paranormal nature for many years. Her book “Haunted Willoughby, Ohio” The History Press, 2010, ISBN 1596294329 (www.hauntedwilloughby.com) showcases her creative storytelling talents, love of the rich history and heritage of Willoughby, and intimate knowledge of all its haunts taken from the very popular Willoughby Ghost Walk (www.willoughbyghostwalk.com), a successful walking tour through downtown Willoughby, Ohio, created by Cathi and now in its fifth season. She is currently hard at work on another book.
She is an experienced educator and lecturer, Cathi's popular workshop "Paranormal University" has been enjoyed by hundreds through local libraries, colleges and community education programs. She also leads various workshops for adults and children geared towards the paranormal.
She is a sought-after speaker and brings energy and knowledge, as well as a strong dose of humor, to her educational seminars to further people's understanding of the paranormal. Cathi considers herself a "para-historian" and her goal is to bring historically significant buildings to the attention of the public by highlighting the reported paranormal activity, along with the stories, legends or lore attached to the structure, in an effort to remind everyone that the responsibility for the preservation of these historic treasures is in our hands. She regularly organizes public para-historical ghost hunt fundraisers for local groups which are always sold out events.
Cathi is the founder of the group Willoughby Area Paranormal Education and Research Society (www.meetup.com/wapers), an open group of paranormal enthusiasts from all backgrounds and interest areas from Lake County and the surrounding area.
She is also co-founder and a lead investigator of THE HAUNTED HOUSEWIVES, (www.hauntedhousewives.com) a group of paranormal investigators from the east suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio.
Cathi has appeared on a variety of television shows including Paranormal State, A & E (November 2010), The Marriage Ref, NBC (February 2011), Paranormal Challenge, Travel Channel (July 2011), My Ghost Story, Biography Channel (July 2012), and Haunted Collector, SyFy Channel (April 2013).
She has also been featured on local radio programs, internet radio, local and national news stations, local entertainment programs and newspapers.
Haunted Willoughby, Ohio, is Cathi's first book and was born from the love she has for the City of Willoughby as well as all things involved with telling a good story - especially one involving ghosts! She hopes to pen a new haunted history soon.
